Hand-Dipped Candles the Ancestral Way
Hand-Dipped Candles the Ancestral Way
An Afternoon of Connection, Storytelling & Traditional Candle Making
Join Ninna and Raquel for a unique, hands-on community gathering that brings together ancestral and land connection, storytelling, and the traditional art of hand-dipping beeswax candles.
We’ll begin by gathering in a circle with Raquel, creating a welcoming space to reflect on and share stories of our ancestors of blood and ancestors of the land. As we sip warm apple cider and connect with one another, you’ll have the opportunity to bring a small, biodegradable offering for the land, as well as a meaningful small object to place on our ancestral altar.
Then, Ninna will guide you through the beautiful, time-honoured process of making hand-dipped beeswax taper candles. Slowly dipping and building each candle layer by layer is a wonderfully simple and meditative process. As we work, we’ll learn about the history of beeswax candles, why beeswax has been treasured for generations, and its natural qualities as a beautiful, clean-burning wax.
There will be plenty of time to chat, laugh, share stories, and connect as we slowly create our candles together. You’ll leave with your own handmade beeswax taper candles and, hopefully, a little more connection to the people and place around you.
Bring a friend, a family member, or someone you’d simply like to get to know better. No previous candle-making experience is needed — just come with an open heart and a willingness to participate.
