Make a Mala Meditation Necklace - Class
Mala making with The Travelling Beadist.
A mala is a string of 108 beads with one bead as the summit or head bead called a 'sumeru'. Malas are used as a tool to help the mind focus on meditation, or count mantras in sets of 108 repetitions.
Learn how to hand knot your own mala in this three-hour workshop. You will learn about the history and the significance of the mala and 108 beads. Learn the significance and the powers of each semi-precious stone.
Choose from a variety of semi-precious stone beads and add a lava bead or two to scent with your favorite essential oil. The finished mala can be worn around the neck or wrapped around the wrist.
Supplies include all materials for one Mala.
Please come comfortably dressed and bring glasses if required as you will need to see clearly to make tight knots close to each bead.
